Swami Dayananda Saraswati Vidyalaya organised a two-day teachers’ workshop on Purna Vidya and Value Education to deepen teachers’ understanding of Indian culture and values and to explore effective ways of nurturing these values among students.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Srikar, who made the sessions interactive, practical, and meaningful. Teachers learnt about the correct pronunciation of Sanskrit mantras, value education through Indian epics and stories, and participated enthusiastically in role plays based on these stories.
A key message of the workshop was: “Do not teach values to children; show them values.” Teachers were reminded that children learn more from what they observe and experience than from what they are told.
The Principal, in his message, highlighted Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati ji’s vision of education, which goes beyond academic learning and focuses on developing a mature, responsible, and compassionate human being. He also shared Swami ji’s inspiring message of transforming oneself from a consumer into a contributor. He emphasised that education should encourage students to move beyond self-centred consumption and develop a spirit of responsibility, service, and contribution to society. Values must become a part of our conduct and daily life rather than remaining merely lessons in a textbook.
The workshop was enriching and inspiring, giving teachers practical ideas to integrate Purna Vidya and value education into their everyday teaching and to nurture responsible, compassionate, and value-oriented young citizens who grow into contributors to society.
